Anyone have any experience of these two shocks?
I have ridden the CCDB extensively and it is a brilliant piece of kit; it transformed my SB66C after the wooden sloppiness of the RP23. The range of adjustment means it can be tuned to suit any frame. It's great.
My new frame has a Fox Float X Evol (how do they come up with these designators?) which is alleged to be a custom tune for the frame.
Will it be as good? Better? Or worse?
Anyone done a back-to-back so I don't have to?
I can't fault my DBair but one thing I've noticed is reviewers picking up on it being a bit lacking in liveliness on bikes with linear rather than progressive leverage curves. And I think the negative spring may be bigger on the Fox Evol, which would help with small bump sensitivity on less progressive bikes.
So really it comes down to the bike it's on!
How about the X2? I'm considering one, but I'm no suspension guru and thinking the range of adjustments might be a bit much for me.
you should ride the bike first
It's a Yeti SB6.
I'll have to give it a go and see. But I'd rather just ride than swap shocks...
