as per the title... i need some new discs for the wife's new build... she's light and doesn't ride agressively... low weight is quite important.

the rotors will be 160mm hopes, so either set needs to work with that.

what would you choose and why?

(budget is up to a max of £120 hence selecting those two options as this is achievable for either brake set)

I have had earlier versions of both these brakes so feel reasonably qualified to give an opinion, I know it's not the STW way.
Formula -excellent stopping power but occasionally pernickety with strange caliper seizures but still far far better than Avid
SlX - nearly as good stopping as Formula but more reliable.
I now have SLX on both bikes

Either set would do the trick.

I've found SLX a bit more immediate (bite sooner) and maybe seemingly a bit more powerful due to this.

Formula RX weigh less but a bit of that all up weight is because Formula rotors are a bit nicer than standard Shimano rotors.

I currently have Formula RX because thats what came with my bike and I couldn't be bothered to swap the SLX I already had over. So I sold the SLX.

But I'd probably prefer to be changing pads and bleeding Shimano brakes with their non-corrosive mineral oil, than dot fluid in the Formula's. Obviously wasn't enough of a driver to swap them though!?
