I'm fed up having tyre marks on the roof interior of my car and have decided to go for a rear mounted bike rack. I have a Toyota Rav 4 with spare wheel on the back and towbar, so both types of rack are an option. The rack only needs to take 2 bikes. What do you lot suggest??? Oh and ive got a budget of around £100

Friend has a Thule one that goes on the towbar - was about £100. It holds 3 bikes & leans away from the boot if you need to open it - although depends how the RAV4 boot opens as to whether this will work.
Also not sure about clearance issues between the spare tyre & the rack.

He's impresed with it so far.

I have a Pendle rack that clamps onto the towball, and has an offset to go round the spare wheel (check out their website for info). It suspends the bikes and is not a wheel support type. Will need to modify it very slightly to fix the anti rotation lugs (I can explain if needed), but it has never been used. Picked it up very cheap so will only be after £30 plus postage (probably about £14 as its quite heavy) if you're interested. You won't be able to tow when it's fitted though.

I recently bought a Thule tow ball bike carrier that holds two bikes for around £60. Couldn't believe how small and light this is, really like it and would recommend to anyone. 3 bike option is around £100 me thinks.

I'd go for a Thule towbar mount too, saves loads on MPG's compares to roof mounted.

Aiston wheel support rack. The website isn't great but I'm sure if you talk to him you'll get what you need. www.aistoncycleracks.co.uk

I've had one of these a pendle and used a thule quite a bit and this one is by far the best.
