which brake pads? (galfer + trickstuff)

Hallo! I want to change my brake pads in sram code and hope v4.

I do enduro and light dh riding.

I would like your opinion on these 3, if anyone has tested them.

In order of importance it would be: bite power+fading resistance, low noise, life.

1. Galfer purple (e-bikes)

2. Galfer green (pro)

3. Trickstuff standard

4. Trickstuff Power

Kind regards!

ive got galfer black ones ( i think they are the black ones i cant remember) and they seem decent to me! better than the uberbike race matrix.

Enduro and light DH on an eeb in magura brakes.

no fading on alps descents a few weeks ago. but i`m not a serial brake dragger.

I've gone back to using OEM SRAM in my Codes after trying Uberbike (OK, but not great) and Trickstuff standard (not v long lasting)

I’ve gone back to using OEM SRAM in my Codes after trying Uberbike (OK at home, shocking in the Alps).

Have used.
Trickstuff Power in Cura4's - Really powerful, quiet, very short life.

Used in V4's
Hope (made by Galfer I believe) Green- good power, quiet, lasted longer than the Trickstuff.

Hope Purple. Not enough bite for my tastes, occasionally noisy but last pretty well.

Also used Galfer Reds in Saints and V4's. Good all around performance, quiet and last OK.

I now go for Green front and Red rear on both my enduro and Ebikes.

Live and ride in The Tweed Valley.
With Alpine and Spanish riding trips.

OEM SRAM in my Codes too. I think that they last longer.

Settled on Galfer Green some years ago in my E4's and very happy.

For reference Paul Aston rates the Galfer Purple over the Green as they're similarly performing but last longer. I can't offer any other insights as I'm in a similar position over finding pads for my son's bike (Saints).

@nickc - I had Uberbike pads come with a set of XTRs I bought 2nd hand - they're the worst things I've ever put on my bike - they just went completely wooden and wouldn't stop at all. They've gone in the bin and I've gone back to OEM which are night and day with no other changes.

I use galfer purples and they're really good. Super quiet and have managed multiple 2000m descents in the alps.

I use them on my Cura 4s, they're technically e bike specific but that doesn't really mean anything. They're just powerful and last a long time!

Fronts, I use Gorilla Enduro, used to use Galfer greens and these last longer and bite harder. Noah & Theo for rear pads.

Noah & Theo?

It's the first time I've seen that name come up in a brake pad thread.

They are a good price, anyone recommend a colour? I'll give them a try for that price.

I bought Galfer green for SRAM and Shimano 4 pot brakes in search of quiet after a recommendation on here . They both still squeal and don't even wear well despite me not being a speedy rider. Back to £5 specials off eBay

CL brake pads, bit more spendy that galfer but last for ages and are very good.

Galfer purples in my Dominions. My new favourite pads.

Galfer standards (black) feel and wear just like shimano resins IMO. Good enough, but not bitey or competent under prolonged use for me.

Uberbike e-matrix, their blue pads, are decent too and outperform their race matrix pads, particularly under duress.

Galfer Red seem to not need to bed in, which is magic. Trickstuff are good, but the power ones wear out so quickly

Noah and theo lol .....generic Chinese brake pads the EXACT same Quindao factory makes them for nukeproof lifeline gorilla and disco yet its amazing that people have a different opinion of the same pad

Even stu has a different opinion of the Exact same pad (Hope green/trickstuff power pad) but confused the hope green as a galfer which they haven't been for years

Galfer reds are absolutely awful pads

Galfer purple are great but only once heated so only good in the UK for park riding

Galfer green great but limited window of use as they wear fast in all but the 3 days of summer we have

Gakfer black a solid pad that neither shines or disappoints

Trickstuff power pad is what I'd run and just deal with the cost

Old Hope green pads were Galfer Pro, amazing in the dry, very good in the wet, never made a peep, can disintegratein the right wet conditions in a matter of minutes.

New Hope Green Pro pads are made by Trick Stuff and are the same but better, though again the right amount of grit and water and they will dissolve.

Hope E4s, I've settled on :

Galfer Green in the Summer for ultimate power and big hills.

Galfer Red in the Winter, bit less power but work out the box and stay quieter than the Greens when im generally doing more pootling and speeds are lower.
