On One currently have some KMC 10 speed chains at £14.99

http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CHKMX10/kmc_x10_10_speed_chain

However, I can't work out what model this is, as the description does not tally with any of the current KMC products.

Need a chain for general XC use, would I be better off with the X10-L?

Thanks

they look like the X10-93, which only have nickel outer plates. Be fine on the bike. Good price too.

see http://www.kmcchain.eu/?en/products/multiple_speed/10_speed_derailleur/

I thought that too, but On One are also selling the X10-93 for £24.99.

So thought that the one listed must be a cheaper version, perhaps the 73, but that's not £34.99 to start with.

The "L" stands for light with KMC... And then the "SL" version is the super light.

So no... The lighter chains stretch more readily, so actually you're better off with their cheaper chains as they last longer.

And £14.99 is a VERY good price...

I'm happy with what L, SL etc mean but thanks for the confirmation and the advice on going cheaper.

Just wasn't sure what the X10 was/is, as it's not listed anywhere else.

It also doesnt state whether it comes with the "missing link" or not.

Is that standard for KMC chains?

I imagine they are the OEM ones which some sell as DX.

Mudshark - Thanks.

Maybe not as good a bargain as I first thought especially with postage on top, but then again if I get two postage is free and two KMC chains for under £30 isn't bad.

I just bought 3 of the Ribble ones last time I wanted some.

Sounds like a good idea, but not sure I need 3. That'll last me years.

Do they wear well.

Doesnt seem to be much of a weight difference between the OEM and the L.

Well I try to cycle them so that I spread the wear of 3 chains across the chainrings/sprockets.
