I'm off work this week and fancy a trip to a trail centre. Given the amount of rain that has fallen this weekend, can anyone suggest where is most likely to have drained well? Not looking for too techy rides, just a new experience - never done a trail centre ride before! Options are Whinlatter, Grizedale, Llandegla and Gisburn - any others worth a look?
Keep an eye on the Facebook pages. I think I saw that Llandegla was closed for a couple of days due to the weather.

Gisburn if it's rained a lot then dont be silly unless you have scuba gear! Degla is closed today again apparently but because of the wind and weather risk more so than blockages. Grizedale if its trail centre ONLY you want then I'd stay at home. Therefore I'd go for Whinlatter!

Go a bit further and go to the first trail centre - coed y brenin.
Assuming its open _ I havent checked, so do check.
While fully accepting my logic could be flawed, I would second CYB purely on the basis that there is more of it to soak up any storm damage so theoretically they'll be more open to ride. That said I've never been to Whinlatter, Grizedale, or Gisburn so can't comment on their ability to weather the storm as it were.
Gisburn is almost as wet as Penmachno...
Llandegla is open from Wednesday - trees now cleared.
From personal experience,i'll be avoiding Llandegla on a weekend in future. It's fine during the week, but rammed with everything i'd prefer to avoid on a bike ride on weekends.

Whinlatter might be ok but I'd probs not want to travel far for a ride at the moment TBH. Grizedale is quite rocky/gravelly but there will be some epic puddles I'd imagine, and is only worth doing if you don't stick to the NFT really.
I think Grizedale is shut due to all the storm damage and unlikely to reopen anytime soon.
Given that they're all to a greater or lesser extent built in forests, you'd do well to check as there's going to be tree damage.
Of the two Lakes centres, Whinlatter wins hands down (unless you know the off piste routes that flow through and around Grizedale, in which case it's excellent). A fair bit of fire road climbing on the North route at Whinlatter, but there are some cracking descents, the final two on particular. South route is a big up followed by a big down, great descent though and amazing views throughout.
Llandegla is a good trail centre, but not as good as Whinlatter (or Coed y Brenin for that matter). Biiig initial climb and no real lengthy descents, but good fun nonetheless.
