Edmundbyers/Blanchland area - on the edge of Co Durham but some great trails around here.

Pack a waterproof it's pouring down.

This is the GPS for the beyond Hamsterley Edmundbyers/Blanchland route. Did it last weekend and it was ace. However, it was sunny and warm then!

+1 Blanchland / Edmondbyres but stick on Bolts law by taking the road to Rookhope and following the bridleway (show as footpath on older maps) NE over Bolts Law and rejoin the rest of the ride in legolam's post.

It's a bit wet, anyone fancy joining me for a ride, it's one way of getting my arse out the door.

As above the Bolts Law section of bridleway is great fun.
Many of the trails round Edmundyers/ Blanchland are rocky and fairly well drained with the odd boggy bits.

Prepare to get wet if you go out today. Just got back from a local ride and was covered in mud from head to toe and my shoes were so full of water you could pour it out. Good though - lots of sideways fun in the mud.

So, Mackem, did you survive the deluge? Did you head towards Edmundbyers in the end? I'm thinking of taking a trip there today and wondered what the conditions were like?

I was up there on Wednesday and did the Bolts Law to Edmundbyers stretch. The conditions were good then - most the trail was dry and sandy with only the occasional boggy bit.
