[Closed] where to get custom made bar ends ?

I have a design that's a little more complex than most (ugly but super versatile) but i'm finding it hard to replicate with what's available and i'd like a pair on my do it all bike ! Is there anyone about who does these kind of things without horrendous cost ?

Bar ends as in extentions from the 90s or just end caps?

Bit of an open ended question really. It's all going to depend on the design;
what are they going to be made from, how do you envisage them being made?

Might also be worth defining what "horrendous cost" actually means to you, essentially your getting a one off prototype, more than current production equivalent? More than twice that? Bit more still?

The horrendous cost bit puts me off

Quite a few framebuilders do custom stems. Given they charge over £100 a time for these, that would give you an idea.
Alternatively if it's just tubes, all you need is someone who can mitre and weld.

I had a pair that used an expandin wedge to hold the extension to the bar clamp. Was intended to allow you to rotate the extension to desired angle but also allowed them to be replaced with a standard bit of 22.2mm bar. So if you can find some like that you could bend your own extensions in whatever shape you want from an old flat bar.

Certainly do-able, but it all depends on your ideas of what a realistic cost is. There's about the same amount of work in building a pair of bar ends as there is in a stem, so going to be around £100-£150.

If that hasn't scared you off completely, bung me an email with a drawing and I'll tell you if it's something I can make 😉

I put a pair of those on a touring build about 15 years ago - I still get occasional emails asking about them.

It was a pretty funky bike, if I do say so myself...

for sillyoldman ....ben's not far off but tbh....a set up like that is tremendously versatile although not something i'd have considered when young and fashion conscious ....and to be fair not suffering from aches and pains. Always amazes me how anti bar ends some people are and always assumed it was due to concerns re catching on trees etc. I'm obviously not hard core enough or maybe not bothered ?
scotsroutes...yeah similar but they're no longer available anywhere.
to the gloaters ...I have lovely looking bikes in the stable but these days like to have a bike i can ride all day in comfort as the years increase and couldn't give a F what others think ..you'll understand one day I suspect .
