need a 26x15x8mm bearing (outer x inner x depth) for a front hub.
Closest I can find is 26x15x7, should I just buy those and some 1mm washers?

I've e-mailed my LBS (who were rubbish when I asked in person) to order some from Ison, at least if they dont reply I'll be able to phone Ison directly and winge.

Sizes like that are really weird in the real world of bearings. They are most likely for bicycle hubs only and nothing else. As you say ID is probably your best bet.
