Has anyone been riding around the Dark Peak or Delamere this week or is it still sheet ice? I'm supposed to be taking my mate on his 'first proper ride' on Thursday but I don't want to put him off for life on his first go.
If anyone can recommend a decent ride near Manchester thats not too icy it'd be awesome.

Been round Marple, Mellor, Rowarth, Strines, Birch Vale, Hayfield and back yesterday and some parts are OK and others very icy. Out of the 20 mile I covered there was only a couple hundred yards un-ridable but most was fine with a little do-able with care. Back off there tomorrow so will report back if you want??

back o Skiddaw is a no go, and Whinlatter is supposed to be in a bad way.

Most of the roads in the western lakes were pretty icy today, but passable. You could ride around Crummock, Buttermere and Ennerdale

I live up in Glossop and went up through Charlesworth, Rowarth, Hayfield, New Mills today, and yeah its still quite icy, but doable! As long as no more snow, should be fine for Thursday...never been so happy to see it rain in all my life!!!

There was sheet ice on some sections of fireroad in Delamere on sunday, but enough room to get by on grass at the side. just the odd patch on the singletrack bits. - no spills this time, but had a few "moments"

been raining a lot today/tonight depends if it freezes I suppose.

loads of rain tonight in Lancs, I bet Delamere is clear now, Rivington certainly looks like it is.

Bloodyshins, I've been round Marple, Mellor, Rowarth, Strines, Birch Vale, Hayfield and back again today and it's cleared up nicely. Some parts still have a little icy snow and some bits still frozen solid but not much at all to be honest. The worst part of today was the bloody wind and all the defrosting snow/ice making it quite wet.
Still good fun though.

Delamere had some pretty bad ice on Sunday but was mostly rideable.

Hey Carlos, sure you can tag along. The more the merrier. I think were gonna just have a gentle one around Delamere though. My mate's a 20 a day man and I recon the combination of steep hills and grim weather might be a bit much for his first time. PM me your mobile no if you wanna tag along.

Forget about Macc Forest - went for a run round there this afternoon and Charity Lane is only just passable on foot, no chance on a bike. The snowdrifts are massive!
