[Closed] Where Are All The Bargain 29er Enduro Forks?

So having asked advice on 29er frames and getting a great deal on a Codeine I now need some forks to suit, which is tougher than I'd hoped. My favourite forks have been my Mattocs, Devilles and my 55s, but neither Manitou, Bos or Marz make anything suitable. Pikes would be fine, but I'm not a massive fan, so £460 or so seems a bit rich. The new X Fusion Trace Roughcuts seem ideal, but they aren't old enough to have any decent discounts and I'm not keen on Fox CTD.

There's not much on the used market either that I've seen.

Anyone got any good ideas?

Having been through this, you either go Fox 34 or Pike. Other 150mm 29er forks are long legged trail forks. I went with the Pike, no regrets.

Yep on this as well
Bought some Marzocchi corsa RL SL 120 mm forks to get bike up and running for big outing last week and I'm a heavy guy 18 stone and was surprised how the coped bit flexy but expected that.Going for Revs or 2nd pikes soon as my rear Rock shox monarch Plus RC3 Debon Air totally kicked ass as was best shock I rode for years and everything worked with loads of adjustment and ease of use so guessing the forks will be up the with up there with the quality
Impressed with the Marzocchi really as the did do there job to be honest but was so happy with the rear shock need the fronts now lol

29er Rev can be cheaper but seems pretty much pointless, only about 75g lighter but a lot of downsides. Looks like a pretty bad choice. I'm not a big Pike fan tbh, but they're probably the best all round option.

Pikes. Mine are a mile better than the revs I had on before, not found any downsides to them yet.

There seems to be a consensu! Just wish I could have a set at sub £400.

Revs can be had cheap at Probikeshop, but I am concerned that they'll just be flexy and no match for a CCDB in the back.

Hi
Just got a set of nearly new 2015 pikes RCT3 off here for £340 posted.
Not got them yet so can't vouch for the condition but they looked mint in the pictures.
Was also considering Fox34 and they go for the about £400 for kashima and FIT damping.
The new Pikes kicking about with discount seem to be about £480 but are 150mm and I wanted 140 otherwise I probably would have bought new.
Not sure if they're adjustable but apparently the Fox34 are with a spacer.
Not sure if that helps really....
Cheers
Steve

Pike's adjust but either need a new air spring rod (about £30 IIRC) or to cut down the old one.

I've had 140 revs, soon changed to pikes, much better. The steering was all over with the revs, far to flexy.

Don't get a rev.

Nothing wrong with a pike in my experience.

Did you try one and not like it?

I've tried a couple of Piked bikes and liked them, but not to the extent of the Devilles or Mattocs which both felt like they could be tuned to perform almost flawlessly whereas the Pikes were simply very good. Also given the used prices on Pikes and the issues I've seen (to be expected I suppose given the number about) then I'd want to go new which at a cost higher than any fork I've owned would probably feel a touch disappointing, despite them realistically being plenty good enough.

I'll get over it though.

I hear what you're saying.

Mine doesn't have the same effortlessly fluid ride as my old 55 RC3 ti, but in use it's not far off - and it is a good chunk lighter.

Shame the French bargains seem to have dried up as the Euro/Dollar exchange rate has slipped.

Merlin have an extra 10% of RockShox forks at the moment..

Brings the 29er dual position Pikes down to £430 - quite tempting for my Phantom, but not sure how it would fair running at the lower travel most of the time.. have read the lower setting is more linear?

I almost ignored all your advice given that Hibike are selling the 36 TALAS RC2 for a very decent 700 euros, but in the end I bought some Pikes from Bike-Components for 500 which I'm happy with and it saves me a bit of cash. On to wheels now...
