Have a pair of Mavic Askiums which have done shed loads of miles as well as two cx seasons. The rear rim braking surface is now really concave. How long can I keep riding it? Will it eventually fail?

id take the tire off and see what thickness you actually have left

almost definitely imminent!! i've seen a rim that has done this and it can look pretty spectacular...but obviously not from the riders point of view!!
i'd recommend not using it and getting it replaced as soon as possible..

you'll know for sure when the rim peels off! if racing at this point the best you can do is run:-)

Aksiums do (or should have) a wear line.
If that's not there, it's time for a replacement.
Will of this parish has found the very same thing with his Aksiums today.
