Fitting a newish set of XT rings to an old octalink set of cranks this evening and the middle ring doesn't fit! It looks like it is too small and it won't go onto the tabs.

Anyone else had this problem? Out with the file?

File the crank tabs down. Works perfectly

That they are all different or that I have a set of poorly cut rings?

They are all 104bcd (except my xtr one which are 102 grr) but some have slightly longer arms.Just file your ring a little ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I wouldn't file the ring, I'd file the tabs off the crank.

yeah it's the new design middle rings with the composite parts - worth it though as they are much better than the all metal ones.

Just need to remove the little tab off the cranks - SLX and newer XT don't have the tabs but older ones like LX etc do.

File the cheapest bit i.e. the rings NOT the cranks.
