They told me August. They are now coming from Van Nicholas not Lynskey and in answering whether or not they were identical in all other respects they were less than convincing.
It's not a great selling exercise is it? Can't be arsed to answer a mail, vague as to the details about what it will be, or when.
No doubt it'll sell by the bucketload, though.
Either that or it will raise Lynskey made Ti455s to cult status and they'll end up selling on eBay for more than people originally bought them for.
I emailed On-one last week after Bike Radar Live as they had one there and had email back within an hour. Apparently they are due mid Sept and RRP is £799 with lifetime warranty. I'm seriously tempted to get one.

I don't know what the deal with VN is but if you ask them the question, who makes the frames these days, they say Van Nicholas.

I believe that some of the early ones, without the 'extra' rear disc pipe, have been having 'troubles' with the nearside seat/chain stays.

From speaking to on-one, I think about half a dozen frames have done this. Obviously Scotch Egg's is included in this set.

Maybe they are improved? I wasn't impressed with my early Ti456. I could flex the bottom bracket sideways alarmingly. I actually questioned whether the welds etc could cope with that much flex longterm. Another rider at the time called the frame 'noodley'.

If your talking about the tapered headtube Ti456's, that are manufactured in the same factory as VN then I was told its late Sept early Oct.

So now rather than Soul/Latitude, I think I need to add the Ti456 into the debate...
The headtube is truly awful!
Tapered headtubes make sense when the downtube is large enough to need a larger surface area to attach to, but it just doesn't make sense here and just looks wrong.
Not sure about VN vs Lynskey either. Lynskey certainly has more kudos, but not sure whether that translates into anything other than a psychological advantage.
I just bought a Planet X ti road frame (last of the Lynskeys there too) and am frankly glad that I got in before they change supplier, particularly if the tapered headtube is on its way there too!
er, i like the headtube... (gives you options, just like the chainguide mounts) i think it looks 'right' - surely it's not just me?
i was never a fan of the previous curvy toptube, i think the new one is very handsome, i approve.
(but not sure about the seatstay yoke being the same dia as the top-tube)
I think they look great. Not sure if the LTHT is for me though, so I'm gonna build up an mmmBop first, see how I get on with that and consider a T1 456 next spring. Comes from the same factory as my current Ti hardtail which has been faultless.
Shame there isn't a discount for pre-ordering like the carbon frames...

So if you own a lynskey frame and it snaps; do you still get a lynskey replacement? Not sure if I'm bothered but part of the attraction of the original was it was made by a very reputable frame builder and came with a lifetime guarantee. Not sure if I'd be comfortable having a Lynskey frame replaced by something inferior?

Going between my Van Nicholas and my mates Lynskey frame i would have to agree that the chi-ti is inferior. Found mine underwhelming. But if it keeps the costs down i guess. Horses for courses.
Onion; In the same way you bought a Santa Cruz carbon bike as opposed to a cheaper carbon alternative? Difficult to say I guess as for folk like us buying top end frames its difficult to justify on anything other than a subjective level and trust that a renowned manufacturer know their stuff?
Its pretty obvious that the original On Ones were flawed around the chain stay disk mount, hence the additional pipe. That said part of the original attraction was that they were made by a very reputable frame maker who advised Brant as much has he designed the frame. So my thought from that was I was getting a very good frame that was likely to last a long time, backed by a lifetime guarantee.
Appreciate you are very pleased with your "chi ti" and it has lasted a while, albeit mostly as a hybrid these days? But there are a lot of instances of Van Nics cracking. Way more than Lynskeys.

AverageMark; agreed that my ti On One rides way better than the Airborne it replaced. Oh and not to say Van Nics are not good. They are, and I have owned two. But they are not as good as Lynskeys and also I'm surprised that On One are selling their chinese Ti frame for the same they were selling their Lynskey ones last year..... I'm sure it nothing to do with margin and all about exchange rates etc etc
I'm sure most of it just comes down to design, though looking at the build quality between the 2 examples i had access to there was a lot of difference. Never liked the gusset on the down tube of my zion that looked like an afterthought tacked on. I'm sure alot of people love them, personaly i didn't. That was a hard pill to swallow after the time and money spent building my dream bike, wasn't easy to admit defeat. Also i don't know how relevant it is but i brought mine 2nd hand from someone on here that had recieved it as a warranty replacment and never botherd building it up. Then again On One designs seemed to be pretty sorted and it is £799.

Yeah, well they would say that, wouldn't they? I snapped 2; the last replacement I sold on. It has since snapped. So that's 3 that I've had my hands on. Only another 3 in the country? I find that unlikely.
I had an Orange Vit-T before that; it snapped. Made by Lynskey, dontchaknow.
When I see Ti made by them, I keep away. Van Nick must be a better bet for longevity.
Scotchegg, theres talk that big rear discs are implicated in accelerating the ti456 failures. Out of interest (I have one) what size rear discs were you running?

So, we have a new version of a classic that thorough testing has proven to be even better than the original! We have moved production to Van Nicholas, the Dutch titanium bike specialists as we felt that their overall quality and consistency of manufacture was head and shoulders above the Americans. Not to diss Lynskey, it just seemed like the right thing to do.
