For an amateur wheelbuilder, is there such thing as a truing stand that'll take a 148mm boost axle and have a reasonable build quality without breaking the bank? Does it exist or am I just being a bit unrealistically northern with my wallet?
I use the Minoura one.£50 or thereabouts. For Boost etc, just put a QR through where the axle would be. It's resting on v-shaped holders so works just fine .
Or build your own using the instructions in the Roger Musson guide.

Will a normal wheel truing stand not take a boost hub? Mine has metal arms that get quite squeezed inwards when you clamp a 135mm qr hub. Even further in for a 100mm front hub. For the bolt through one I’m building at the moment (100mm) ’ve just clamped it with a qr axle. Seems fine. I guess I’ll find out how it goes when I try to build a boost hubbed wheel later this year! It hadn’t occurred to me there would be an issue / different standards of truing stands.....
My Minoura works with Boost using, as you suggest, a QR. No need to over-complicate things.
