Is there anything "wrong" with building a set of wheels for rim brakes but using disk brake hubs?

I'm thinking of getting some BMX racing rims laced to a set of Deore level hubs so I can get a lightweight 9/10sp 24" wheel for my son. A quick initial glance seems to only disk brake hubs.

Nothing at all, crack on!

If you want Deore level hubs and non disc brake though, the T610s will do it. I'd build the front one radially.

Not really, you might have a bit narrower flange spacing but I can't imagine that's a huge concern. Centrelock hubs come with a cover for exactly this reason.
