Lot of bike for the money.

In fact that and the mattatuskil they were k kicking out for the same price last month are unbeatable for ยฃ1200

No idea how it rides, bit short by modern standards but who cares at that price.

I was in there last week and saw one of these - looks really nice in the flesh (nicer than on the website I think) - not ridden one tho so can't comment from that point of viewโ€ฆ..

Excluding brand snobbery. It is short by today's standards :/

Wonder what parts you actually get? The photos, description, and parts list are all different. The sizing was pretty dated when it came out, never mind now but it's still a lot of bike for the money regardless of which parts bin they use.

Probably not a bad buy overall as long as you think of it as a used bike off pinkbike, for warranty and aftersales purposes.

Why? Speaking from experience here or just general On-One dislike?

And why is everyone obsessed with length these days? It seems like itโ€™s the only thing that matters.

Say that again. But out loud....

Yes, yes - but with bikes, as with anything else in life, itโ€™s what you do with it.....
Go back a very few years and plenty of skilled people were riding stuff that, now apparently, you need the longest, lowest and slackest state of the art โ€œweaponโ€ for.

I've never had a problem with On-One customer service, sent my fatty back to them and it came back fixed (a faff in itself for them as it wasn't an obvious fault otherwise I'd have fixed it at home) and with a free pair of carbon bars for my trouble.

The geometry isn't cool, but I bet most wouldn't notice unless you told them. And a geometron isn't ยฃ1200.

Full Ti 29er for ยฃ1200?! Blimey.
(Externally routed Reverbs are more reliable IME, but the bike actually comes with a "El Guapo Bronco Seatpost (Grey Logo) / 31.6mm")

I think it's the same shape/size as the Parkwood. Which can only be a good thing IMO, nothing wrong with the Parkwood at all. Bought mine X5 spec for ยฃ800 and was/is an absolute bargain of a bike.

The Ti above.. Yup, i'd have that in a heartbeat.

Thatโ€™s absolutely bonkers, surely the ride should be the priority with the bits hung off it an added extra?

As has been said, looks like a Parkwood and my mate liked his.

It's not a question of not being able to ride something, it's about how good things feel when riding them. If the MTBing world has discovered that a certain geometry actually makes things feel better, you may not want to be riding the older geometry knowing it's likely to be worse. So don't buy the older geometry.

Or you may not care. In which case buy it.

We all ride bikes differently and have different criteria.

They've snuck the weighty NX 1130 11-42t cassette on there (shimano freehub) rather than the proper GX 1150 XD hub version.

Non integrated dropper - I'm out.

Less interior cable rattle, easier to remove and cheaper dropper choices.

However the spec isn't what's in the picture. Shows a El Guapo Bronco Seatpost.

Forks in the picture don't match the spec either (though the Revs in the spec would be better I guess). Picture shows Guide brakes but spec shows Level. Though tried some last week and they seemed decent enough. Weren't squidgy, nice bite and modulation. Just 2 pot instead of Guide 4 pot. Elixir / old-style X0 calliper I guess but the refined Guide style lever (basic version).

It's a dated frame and you'll most likely get the cheapest combination of whatever the spec and pic show. You'll also have near to zero resale value.

If none of these things bother you then go for it.

Im not interested in the resale value. Recent sales have meant the buyer of my old kit gets a much better deal than me ๐Ÿ™‚

The longer top tube fashion suits my build. I'd like a steel HT that I'm really happy with. Budget wise I'm around ยฃ1600 ish give or take.

In the fickle world of bikes these days the geometry is 'dated' I could stick a longer stem on it and make it fit but as outlined above OnOne and PX use creative lisence when posting images advertising their bikes for sale in that what you see is not what you get.

I do want a new HT which, will be my only bike, and predictably I like the new Soul but laying down nearly 2000 bones, ooof.

I like the p7 but cant come round to the green one, they are hawking Kore finishing kit on that as well, I'd end up replacing all that, false economy!

Not a bad problem to have but I need some other options?

The Soul and p7 are totally different bikes to the Titus.

Possible alternative...
https://www.biketart.com/bikes-c1/mountain-bikes-c34/genesis-tarn-20-2017-p21137/s80238

Spending additional funds on a nice set of 29er wheels & tyres.

Not On-One specific but a lot of people on this forum and others complain about titanium frames failing at the weld, and it almost always seem to be the better value ones like this one, ie not the expensive ones.

For comparrison a Van Nicholas frame, which have an excellent reputation, would cost roughly the same as the whole bike...

Not true ^ I have personal experience of a Van Nicholas failing on rear stay weld.

Titanium, despite being marketed as such is not a bike for life.

I see they're listing a new On One branded Ti 29er on their website now too, at the same price as this, but the photo is of a Ti 456.....

Hrumph. That makes it pretty hard to justify the cost then! So maybe you are better off buying a cheap one like the Titus, seeing as it isn't going to last anyway?
