As per the title really. Looking for recommendations for some warm socks.

Is it best to layer up 2 pairs or 1 decent thick sock?

Not fussed about waterproofness (sealskins) as will be worn under long trousers

Wearing a Wollie Boolie with a thinner sock underneath at the moment.

Ta

I got a pair of commando socks for Christmas one year.

I was totally unimpressed, untill I wore them in the cold. They are almost up to my knee and super cozy. They also dry fairly quickly.

The Rapha deep winter socks are pretty decent. They come right up to the knee and have some windproof material in the front which seems to help keep the legs and feet a bit warmer.

Knee length ski socks for me, Aldi or Decathlon. Think the Aldi ones are a silk mix. They go in Scott Heater boots.

I got some knee high merino socks from Aldi the other week, they're pretty good so far, worn under tights with another pair of merino socks or sealskinz if its proper wet and minging.

water proof sealskinz are the warmest socks I have ever used.

If its cold, that's my go-to socks. (wet or dry weather)

I always find 2 layers of socks feel a bit weird.
I swear by Merino socks as you’ll still be warm even if they get wet. I can’t stand normal wool clothing but Merino is awesome.
I’ve just bought some Madison socks on recommendation from a friend, some thin merino ones for chilly weather and thick for chillier weather! Fit really nicely and seem to be very warm, so nice I wear the thin ones at home for office work as I tend to kick my slippers off and they still keep my feet warm. Did a gravel ride at the weekend in the thick socks and they stayed warm all day despite my feet getting wet.
