Evening!

So, I'm soon moving to the Mold or Wrexham area, from South Wales, and was wondering, what's the ringing like?

Within lets say a half hour radius? I'm especially interested in what is on the doorstep though?

I like all kinds of off road riding,.

Thanks

OK, maybe I should specify, not Llandegla, as I know it as a busy trail centre, so probably not my favourite place, and I'd get bored if I rode that loop more than once or twice a month!

Isn’t there decent riding at Halkyn Mountain? Not local but know some who ride there.

Pretty sure I rode the Flintshire Challenge around some lovely hills there about 20 years ago. Moel Arthur rings a bell.

Exiled Taff here.... been up here 27 years so it can't be that bad! The flattyres link will show you a few rides, Colin who coordinates the stuff on there hosts midweek rides regularly (pre covid) often around the Clwyds.. Halkyn has a few good places, mostly xc stuff but there are a few cheeky Dh trails around Clwyds area if that's your thing... message me when you're up here for a guided tour of the Clwyds if you fancy it

Llandegla: do some off piste stuff to make it interesting. World's end. The "Llangollen super enduro" section etc etc.

The clwydian range Loads of roads out of ruthin/mold over moel famau way.

Delamere. But flat but ok for the odd ride.

You've got one giant leap in Llangollen.

Revolution bike park in llangynog.

Berwyns: ceiriog valley. Loads of riding in the valley or further up over the berwyns and "wayfarer" riding can be accessed from Llangollen. Oswestry. Corwen. Llangynog etc.

An hour will see you to the Marin trail. Penmachno. Coed y brenin. Etc

Lots of nice xc and forest, not so much gnar. A long time ago I think there was some off piste at Clocaenog Forest but no idea now. I think there are some bits rideable around Llangollen too (top of panorama and south side of valley towards the Berwyns). But we always stuck with the Cilcain routes when we were in the area.

Great place for riding locally as mentioned above. I grew up round there.

Also not far from Snowdonia and all the fun to be had there.

Yeah, i was expecting there to be loads of xc stuff over the hills, which I love. It's the lack of gnar that's worrying me slightly, as I do like to mix it up, and am used to having some great stuff locally to me. I'm guessing that once I'm up here I might find some cheeky bits. I feel a bit like N Wales just has a different type of riding to the south. A positive is, I'll be alot closer to the peak district and the lakes.

Whytetrash, that would be great! I'll send you a message.
