[Putting my curious hat on - any idea what type of shellfish they could be? As the bike has spent most of its life in the Birmingham/Worcester canal]

I have no idea why the crop has come out in b&w, but you get a slightly better idea of the shellfish 😉

Yup, probably freshwater mussels, they like slow moving or stagnant water, so canals are an ideal place for them.
Probably best not to eat em though 😉
