I have recently built myself up a SantaCruz Superlight and after its first few outings have realised the Orange probably won't get used that much any more. So opinions on what this is worth would be appreciated please.
2004 Orange 5 Pro Matt Black Medium (16")
Pace RC40 Front Forks (some wear on the stantions, needs the garter seals replacing which you can still order from pace)
Manitou Swinger 3way Rear Shock (serviced once by TF tuned, maybe gettign a bit tired)
Original wheels (WTD rims on Hope Sport Hubs)
XTR rear mech (12 months old)
Deore Front (6 months old)
Original XT crank arms (now with RaceFace rings)
Race Face Carbon seatpost, carbon riser bars and deus stem
Original WTB Rocket saddle
Original XT Hydraulic discs (160mm) have been amazing
Original XT Dual control shifters/brakes (not to everyones taste)
Any advice
Cheers
Ben
£800? I think if you split you'd get more what you are thinking though
I think you would do VERY well to get £800 I was think more £450-£500 seeing you have an honest description.
That was my thoughts between £400-500. Its been a well loved machine but obviously any bike 5 year old is starting to show its age if its been used!!
Good point consider the condition of the forks/shock- thats a couple of hundred alone min. to service
Let me know if you're gonna sell, I might be interested.
The forks might be considered effectively worthless - ie better to buy new than repair.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but Ben I was just wondering how you found the Superlight vs the Orange. Obviously the Orange is quite a bit older so it's probably not a fair comparison and obviously they're at different ends of the specrum in terms of travel, use, etc. However, they're two bikes I'm thinking about so would appreciate your views! Cheers!
I certainly wouldn't say the forks are worthless. You can't really go wrong with coil sprung and oil damping. The launch control was all a bit of a gimmick that I never really used. If I had the time I would give them an overhaul, there are good instructions on the pace website and you just need new seals and a bit of oil to top them back up with. They have always been nice an d smooth and reliable 🙂
It's just that you say the stantions are worn - maybe they aren't too bad and don't need replacing?
Ahh just a bit of coating has worn off, a bit of grit in the seals hence they need replacing!! Didn't this happen to all fox forks aswell 😉
PS Paceman I will get some pictures to you if you are interested
That'd be great thanks ssben.
