Iv been to Morzine/ les gets/ Chatel and then moved over to Verbier as our group was a bit sick of just riding the Dh courses. we all loved Verbier in every single way as its got fantastic technical single track and you rarely see other riders on the same trail.

Sooo my question is whats the verdict on Les deux Alps... Anyone been there whos ridden the other resorts iv mentioned as a comparison ??

Cheers for any help on this...

Dan

There is no way warked XC at Les 2 Alpes, so my guess is that you would need to get a guide. It's all DH of varying gnarr-ness. As it's close to Alp D'huez there is probably quite of lot of XC in the area and the tourist info office at Bourg D'oisson there are some routes posted up etc - however they seemed to be in the valley rather than in the mountain.

Having said all that, for DH stuff I loved Les 2 Alpes, and think it's awesome. Very quiet, nice trails, remote at the top and plenty going on in resort.

I did 2 wks in 2 alpesand it was amazing compared to morzine and les gets. Quiet in july and sunny as hell. Descents from 3200 to 780 in one long run! The trails are in good condition too or were! Plenty of other stuff to do too. Lovely place. Go there.

As above, Deuz alpes is a lot quieter than Les Gets/Morzine. No queues for the lifts and potentially much longer runs. Plenty to do but it is all downhill pistes.

The other side of the valley has more enduro style riding and the resorts of Alp d'huez/Oz en Oisans/Vaujany are all linked together by lifts.

This year I did a big road trip and rode all over the alps and pyranees. Deuz alpes/Alp d'huez was my favourite area in terms of the quantity and quality of easily accessed riding. Dont go when the tour passes through though, the whole area is a road block, its mental.

If you do decide to go, dont stay in deuz alpes as access to the resorts becomes a pain. Venosc (good campsites) or Bourg d'oisans would be give more flexibility.

Check out this it's a load of XC itineraries you can do in the local area. You can usually pick the booklet up in English from all the tourist information offices in the area - as well as XC there's a load of other routes available - 30 in total. There's one route which takes a couple of days where you can sleep in mountain huts, carrying food or buying it from shops on the way.

There's also a similar booklet for road riding and climbing which I picked up last time I was there.
