I have an old Forme Hiver frame to build up and it needs a new rim brake rear wheel.

It had an Ambrosio i20 wheel on it but i can't work out whether it (or indeed the frame) had a 130mm or a 135mm hub spacing.

Any ideas?

135 on all the ones I've owned. Don't know about old timey stuff, presumably started with road frames.

Rim brake is likely to be 130

Canti brake 130mm (unless really old)
Disc brake usually 135 (some were 130)

Get the calipers out and measure the spacing.

Can you measure it?

I will have to measure it. No calipers but do have an old school ruler. Can't believe neither the frame nor the hub have it listed anywhere online.

I can't believe you're first Instinct was to Google it rather than find your tape measure...

As it’s a canti frame, does it really matter? Either a 130 or a 135 will usually fit just fine.

Thanks everyone. Apologies for sofa based laziness cookea. You have helped me decide on a 135mm mtb hub squeezed in regardless.

Not sure stressing an alloy frame like that is wise!

Almost certainly 130mm to take a road wheel. Just measure it, you dont need callipers to measure to the nearest 5mm!

Agree, I wouldn't stretch an alloy frame. My money would also be on 130.

I'd of thought a canti frame would be 130mm and a disc to be 135mm. I'd also be very wary of splaying an aluminium frame 5mm.

+1 to 130 and not stretching an alloy frame

Thanks again all. No splaying alloy. Don't be lazy and measure.
