I've been using basic windows movie maker and was looking for something a bit more advanced but still easy to use, any suggestions?

Adobe Premiere is really good, not cheap though and there is a bit of a learning curve.

Grass valley edius, basic version ~£180, normal version ~£600
Stick it on a server and it's what they use for the world cup, olympics, royal wedding, but works equaly well on your laptop editing home movies.

Premiere but only if you can use CS5 as the older ones are a bit rubbish. You could also try www.lightworksbeta.com
I still haven't got round to trying it but it looks like its getting better!

I tried it but discovered that a lot of video formats wont work on it.
