Looks like Jnr needs some new tyres on his second hand bike - what are the options - mostly Sustrans/towpath type riding, but getting keener on Sherwood Pines. He's not at the jumping/ragging it stage yet!

In increasing order of knobbliness(?) I'd suggest:

Schwalbe Marathon
Schwalbe Land Cruiser
Continental Traffic
Continental Explorer

A few years back I got some 24" Racing Ralphs for my sons' bike, in 2.4 width too ๐Ÿ™‚

CRC did some Michelin ones pretty cheap, think they were called "Diablo". I put some on the nephews bike. They have a continuous centre section which is of more importance than big knobbles. You can get 24" Kenda Smallblock8's but they are pricey (for a kids bike anyway).

Another vote for the racing Ralph's, great tyre, very light and wide. Expensive though....

Land cruisers. Good enough for the school run, but will still get round Swinley in winter.

If it's his only bike, he will be riding it on the road too. How many of you just ride around on racing ralphs?
