[Closed] What trousers for all day DH messing about on the mountain?

I think it's time to invest in some fairly decent trousers/pants for social DH (genre stolen from some other thread). There'll be plenty of pushing, snacking and line analysis as well as riding.

Ideally water 'resistant', I probably sweat too much for 100% waterproof. Plenty of room for knee pads, some pockets and adjustable waist for the upcoming winter waistline increase.

I guess they don't have to be DH specific so maybe a look around Go Outdoors could answer my needs?
What you guys using?
Cheers

How much are you looking to spend ? these look good, well the more subdued ones do,and convert to shorts if you get a bit warm http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30648

I got the above cos they were v cheap on ebay. They are way too baggy around the ankle for cycling so only get used as shorts

if your wearing knee pads why would you bother wearing anything other than shorts? infact just wear knee/shin pads and shorts and you more protected for less sweatyness.

I normally wear just shorts as a couple of you have advised.

However in the darkest winter if freezing water splashes into my shoes I'm in trouble because my feet (and hands) suffer terribly when they're cold and wet - Raynaud's disease. So trousers are the order of the day!

how were they too baggy? don't you have a chain device? - tight ankle DH trousers look awful!

Minty, there are plenty moto trousers around that will suit your needs But for "social DH" please do yourself a favour and try to avoid the awful wannabe racerboy PJs look.

GW, thanks for the advice - I'm definitely too old for the racerboy PJ look, I'm all about discretion on the trails!

Just get some decent shorts and knee pads.. Endura Zymes/661 Kyle Strait has held up really well for me - 2 big crashes in the Zymes and only 2 little holes, and the 661s dont even have a scuff from their first big crash!
