New bike has FSA Gossamer chainset. On the non driveside is a cap that screws into the crank. It looks like it's only function is as a dustcover but it keeps working loose. It looks like I would need a tool with 6 pins but not sure what it's name would be. Any thoughts?
Pin spanner?
It's the crank cap that also works as a self extractor, giving the crank bolt something to push against as you unscrew it.
It's a good idea to Loctite it in as they tend to work loose and either fall off (bad) or work loose so that when you try to unscrew the crank there aren't enough engaged threads and they strip out the inside of the crank arm. (worse)
I use one of these when working on mine.
Ok cool didn't realise it was a self extractor. Have come pretty close to loosing it on last couple of rides. Pin spanner &
Loctite looks like a good shout-I'll get down to Halfords and see what I can find.
Eh, that's not at all what he needs, that's for a Shimano HT2 chainset bolt.
Edit: as you've clearly now realised!
MuddyMTB, that's a Shimano bearing tension cap tool.
The OP has a FSA Gossamer, completely different system and will have no use for the tool you linked to, well on those cranks anyway.
Edit: Looks like you've realized this already
