Off there on Saturday with my newly acquired ex-girlfriend(should be interesting... 🙄 )

Anyone got any must-do's in the city? Preferably ones which can be enjoyed without any bitterness and resentment-fueled arguments? 😉

Essentially what I do here then......

Staropramen, gambrinus and pilsner urquell are your beers. It used to be if you spent more than 27p on a pint you were going to the wrong bars.

Absinth is a very good alternative. Try a tram crawl- get an all day ticket for the trams, jump on the nearest tram, get off at the first stop, head to nearest bar. Have drink. Repeat. You get to see a lot of the city. We had change out of £20 after 15 hours.

We also visited a nearby concentration camp and a tour of the glass blowing factory, cant remember either name but both were good. It's a beautiful city, stay out of the main square if you want a drink!

Prague is the only place I've ever been propositioned by a prostitute. She was gorgeous as well. Walked up to me in the main square at about 11 pm and plain said to me 'so do you want have sex'. Just for a moment I thought I was about to get the luckiest id ever been. Then it dawned on me that she didn't mean without it actually costing me anything. I was on my own as well. Really thought about it for a second before saying no.

Similar thing happened to me at about 5:30am on the way back to the hotel.

I was eating the obligatory meat in a bun and staggering, lass stepped out of a doorway, put her l left arm around my waist and cupped my balls with her right hand. "You want to **** me, 500 crowns?".
You'd be surprised how hard it is to do a crowns to sterling conversion and mentally process a proposition, while your balls are being held, you are pissed AND eating a sausage in a bun.
The thing is the food was my main priority - then my balls, then the rest.
by the time I had realised I was being propositioned and thanked her and turned her down, my wallet was long gone 🙁
1500 crowns and a wallet down. would have been cheaper to go with her (unless you include the cost of my conscience and potential divorce) 🙁

Now I can see why you are called crotchrocket! 🙂

Bear in mind if you can't speak Czech you get presented with a different menu in the bars/restaurants with different prices! For a bit of nightlife fun there is a good club near the Charles Bridge which used to be a public bath. Three floors where the dance floor is in what used to be the pools. There is more than enough to see and do for a long weekend in the old town and castle. I love Prague in the winter when it's cold (and at the moment be prepared for -15 during the day) and grey. Really sets of the old buildings IMO. For pubs have a look here.

Walking across Wenceslas Square, we were once asked if we wanted to see dwarves f***ing. As we were very, very drunk, it took a while to register....

Concentration camp was probably Terazin, a bus ride away...

Very interesting but its probably not going to be the happiest day of your trip now, is it...

Petrin Hill and the Eifel Tower replica, the Planetarium is a good one too... then you could take her up the Zizkof Tower for a great view of the city...

I love Prague, very happy times there.

I was in Prague at New Year, its not as cheap as it used to be 45-60Kr a pint seemed to be the going rate - Still pretty cheap by UK standard but not the bargain it used to be.

Have a wander round the old town, cross the Charles bridge, look at the astronomical clock. The Jewish museum is interesting if you want to do a museum. Go to Kolkovna and eat a pigs knee! U Veyvedou has excellent beer and U Flecku is an old style Czech pub, although it caters mainly for tourists these days. Be prepared for lots of random wandering. Most of the interesting pubs ane restuarants are away from the main drags like Wencelas Square (which isn't a square BTW)

Go to the Mucha museum if you like Mucha, and the awesome bookshop that I've forgotten the name of that does brilliant cooked breakfasts. I want to say the Globe, but it's not.

I think there's also a Svankmajer museum, but I missed that. And a torture museum.

The castle is well worth a visit, it's proper spectacular.

There's a torture museum too. Although whether you want to relate the two is up to you... 😉
Eating/drinking round Charles Bridge/Wenceslas Square is astronomically expensive. Go a few miles outside the city centre on the excellent tram network and you'll get decent food for 1/3rd the price.

The cathedral and castle grounds are well worth a visit too.

Stroll, get cold, go into a bar, have warm food and beer. I loved the food and beer in Prague but can't remember the names of any of the places I went to. My (now) wife loved the transvestite cabaret acts, but can't remember where that was either.

In summary, great place, can't remember the names of the good places to tell you where to go 😆

When we went we stumbled in on the Museum of Communism (sandwiched between a MacDonalds and a Casino!) and I found that fascinating, despite being highly sceptical intially. I think it's because I'm old enough to remember the Velvet Revolution demonstrations on the telly.

It's a good few years since I was last there so I suspect it's become even more commercial now.

The castle/cathedral are definitely worth a visit as are the other tourist spots like Charles Bridge, the clock etc.

I love Art Nouveau and Prague has lots of examples to see such as the Municipal House and The Mucha Museum.

The working girls certainly weren't shy. I was propositioned for business by several whilst holding hands with my girlfriend walking through Wenceslas Square.

I actually enjoyed my time outside Prague the most in the smaller Czech towns - Telc, Cesky Krumlov, Olomouc, Karlovy Vary etc.

The zoo's pretty good for a day out. Might be a bit cold this time of year. Hilarious moment was Mrs Taxi loosing it in this walk through bat thing.

Is this a relatively recent thing? I was there in 2003 I think (with my girlfriend) and I don't remember seeing any of this at all.

There is a great cocktail bar at the top of the Hilton Hotel with great views. And the prices are the same as anywhere else!
