5'10" and normally ride a 54cm road bike............They are out of stock of 54's,could I get away with a 52?

I am 5ft 10 and ride a 56cm Flyer but need a 54cm Day 01.

5'10" 's way too tall for a 52 imo.. i'm 6' and ride a 58cm. i think you'd need a 56cm, maybe a 54cm for a compact fit. ignore the seat tube size and size yourself on reach, plus the day one fit is different to a std road bike - steeper seat angle and shorter top tube.
