Hi,

Need to replace chain in my fixie.

Bike is new to me (old bike tho) and never replaced this chain before.

Guessing it's a 1 1/8th chain.

Any recommendations? Would like a quick link with it since current chain tool too small to use on this size chain (I took current chain off to clean but can't get pin back in chain to join it because chain too big for chain tool).

Anything else I need to know about replacing fixie chain?

Thanks for any help.

It could be 1/8 or 3/32. 1/8 will work on both sized sprockets and chain rings.

Other than that.

Literally any chain. If its 3/32 the cheapest 8speed you can find with kmc on the box. If you don't know the cheapest 1/8 you can find with kmc on the box.

Quick link or cleft pin type connection with work fine.

KMC Z1 EPT are good in wide (1/8) or narrow (3/32). The EPT does seem to stop rust as I use my bike all year round in all weathers so an important factor for me.

2nd cheapest KMC. Spend a bit more if you want nickel coating - shinier for longer.

I used to use Wipperman 808 but have found the KMC Z1 EPT just as good for almost half the price.
(Good in that it lasts me a year and doesn't rust over winter)

Kmc, I just looked at their website and looks like they've changed the numbering? It's now z1 wide, z1 narrow etc. Previously I'd have said z610hx.

Get the HX version, slightly more £, should be nigh on undroppable and unbreakable though.
