[#13535325]

Inspired by the thread about what you have done to your bike recently.  This is the place for the procrastinators among us.  I have a new 105 Di2 groupset to fit to my Equilibrium to replace the 11 speed mechanical groupset that has been on there for years.  However the motivation to crack on with the job has vanished.  What's on your to-do list?

Making sure I don't let it get too rusty. And riding it.

And doing sick jumps on it

Yep, riding seems to be at a minimum at the moment

Other than that:

Clean the Levo, it's ditched - and then drop the motor to send it for a precautionary refurb to tie in with the time my range extender arrives. Oh, rear wheel needs some spoke tightening too

Stanton is losing air in the front wheel - I suspect the valve. Rather than change it, I just keep blowing it up

Gravel bike gets even less use than the other bikes, but I know when I next ride it, I'll curse the fact I haven't gotten around to adjusting the front mech

Need to suss out why I can't see either of my Kenevo batteries in the BLEvo app to adjust the settings

Halfway through replacing the headset and bb on the hardtail, 2 weeks later its still not done. Wrong parts didn't help but its mostly my laziness when it comes to faffing about with bikes. Need to get it done so I've got something to ride while the fs gets refreshed so the motivation should be there!

G13- rebuild the front brake grease the seatpost

Hardtail- sorted it this morning

Commuter- sorted it last week

Mountain: Cleaning it, topping up the sealant, checking suspension bolts at correctly torqued, changing brake pads

Gravel: Adjusting the brakes, topping up sealant, greasing things

I really should spend a bit of time fiddling with my suspension settings. I plugged the numbers into the Trailhead app and then got on with riding it.

I needed a longer hose for some XT brakes, got one, then realised it needed to be "banjo fitting", got some cheap banjo adapter kit from amazon, fitted and bled brake, now its all spongy.
It annoys me every time I ride it.
I need to redo it possible fitting a proper shimano bh90 cable. It's internally routed.
I can't be @rsed.

Couple of droppers to service, couple of shifter batteries to change, and a frame swap, once it arrives

@tomhoward. What's the frame swap from/ to? Your builds are always interesting 😀

Thanks to this thread (and a long nap) my road bike is good to go and the brake caliper is rebuilt. To bled but the rebuild is the job i was putting off.

Got to swap out a rear tyre before we start our European tour.

Its probably got a couple of weeks hard riding in it but won't last the trip

Its easier to do it at home but part of me hates binning stuff and once off it's too far gone to save it as a spare

At this rate I can see it been a last minute job just to get a bit more life out of it

New tyre is ready to fit but now toying with the idea of trying the new radial version just to see if I can tell the difference 🤣

I should be taking my old commuter off the turbo trainer (which I have not used for a year) and actually going on rides on it to build a little fitness. Instead I am looking on facebook for cheap road bikes. I do not like road bikes. But it seems like I'd rather buy one than climb into the back of the shed and rehabilitate my old Boardman, because I am a fool.

ALso got a tyre to put a proper patch on, which has been in the kitchen for 2 entire months waiting for that to happen.

Think for once my three main bikes are actually clean?

Should really put my spare Hope brakes on my 6 Evo before BPW but it's a pita and I keep putting it off. Need to finish cabling and setting up a couple of my retro Orange bikes but that's been waiting since last year!

Need to sell some stuff too. Anyone want some 29er boost wheels or a couple of retro Marin frames?

MTB - riding it and probably doing something service-wise with the fork as it's not been touched since I got the bike four (five?) years ago

Tourer - selling it

Gravel - bleeding the brakes (again, properly, after making a right pig's ear of it last time)

Shopper - selling it

MrsIHN's MTB - persuading her we should sell it (or give it away) as it's unlikely to ever be used again

Road - riding it on the road and not on the trainer

MTB/Road/Gravel - sorting out new saddles as none of them are that comfortable.

Replace the back tyre on the MTB which I got for Christmas.

Service the dropper on the gravel bike. As this means unwrapping the bar tape, I might see if just removing the collar gets me enough access just to wang some thick spray oil in there.

Oh, and clean the bloody thing.

Scrub that and that. Chinned off a dull all hands and washed the bike instead. Currently sunning itself in the garden.

Need to replace gear cable outer on the Rail. It's going to mean dropping the motor and removing the swingarm. Battery mounting hardware and locking mechanism have to come out as well. I'm seriously tempted to see if I can arrange some of the run externally.

The Solaris Max is running like a dream though 👍🏼

Mrs A's road bike really needs the rear wheel fettling, the loose spokes have seized in the nipples and whilst the wheel runs true the clicking noise is really getting to me although she's not bothered.

I'm dangerously close to having all of them running perfectly, which means something disastrous id about to happen.

Not quite done fiddling with saddles and the seatclamp on the Basso seems really fickle so I should probably remove, grease and maybe file off some edges just to make it easier to adjust.

I guess I could chop down the inner bar ends on the MTB just for marginal weight savings, I never use the upper half of them.

I really want to figure out how to route the cables through my Easton wing bars, I think I need some Nokon-esque ultra flexible outer casing. Currently got the gear cables taped to the underside of the bar which probably negates the marginal aero benefits 🙄

Sometimes, very VERY occasionally, putting off a job actually makes the bike repair itself!

Case in point ...

My SRAM Rival brakes on my gravel bike are 8 years old. Recently, I've had the SRAM sticky piston thing, where the pistons on the rear brake won't retract fully, and there's not enough clearance between the pads and rotor, so there's an annoying rub (which, I'm convinced, is also slowing me down!)

LBS bled the brakes a couple of weeks ago - which helped for half a ride, but back to the same problem. They said the seals etc are probably getting a bit old/perished etc and I probably need to think about new calipers.

In my wisdom, I decided to let a little bit of oil out the system, so loosened the bleed port on the shifters, pushed back the pistons, and a satisfactory amount of oil dribbled out the bleed port. "That'll be enough" I said to myself, locked off the bleed screw, refitted the pads, and ... Oh bugger! The pads no longer grip the rotor when applying the brake!

Throw the bike in the garage, get on to eBay and buy some new/unused calipers, promising myself that when they arrive, I'll just get the LBS to sort it.

Move the gravel bike from the bike pile in the garage a couple of days later (to get to a different bike, as clearly I can't ride the gravel bike) ... "Oh-aye" I say to myself as I notice the brake lever has a nice firm feel to it, and actually applies stopping force to the rotor!

It's done a full double commute today, firm braking and no rubbing! Success - at exactly the point I'd decided I CBA to do anything further to it!

Fork has gone at least 2 years without a service and I bought the bike used so god knows how long it's been since the last one. Still feels fine though but I really should get it done.

Drivetrain needs cleaning and lubing, chain is probably worn past gone as well but haven't got round to checking it in ages. Derailleur hanger is probably bent a bit as it won't index properly higher up the cassette, I've just got used to not having full access to those gears tbh.

Brakes need bleeding as the front one is usually spongey if it's been left for a while. Firms up after a few uses so I just keep putting it off.

Kids bikes could both do with new pads and v-brake noodles, plan to get that sorted this weekend.

My answer to this is always suspension servicing. I always think it takes ages... but i'm not sure if it really does.

Sorting out a dropper post (replacing the cable and possibly lever) has been on my to do list for about a year (I don't ride that bike anymore but need to fix it before selling)

Bottom bracket on hardtail, might not be bottom bracket, so actually figure out that creak.

Change batteries in shifters, all are giving battery low messages and have been for at least a month.

Sort out the cabling on the rise. It's annoying me.

Sell my older enduro bike along with it's spare shock and figure out how cheaply I'm willing to get rid of the carbon wheels for.

I've got a ~2018 Giant Revolt that I use as a commuter bike that I bought from Facebook for £200 and it's actually quite fun to commute on and I sometimes take it the long route home which takes in a bit of gravel.

It's had front and rear flats for about a month now when spoke nipples broke in both wheels over the course of a few rides. I had to remove the tape to get the broken nipples out that were rattling around in the wheels. They have both been retaped around 5 times since with a variety of tapes and won't hold air and I'm so pissed off with it now that I just CBA with it so it's just sat there in my shed with flat tyres in little puddles of sealant. Shame as every time I ride my mtb in to work on the road it feels like a bit of chore, the way home across the downs is more fun though.

Nothing really.

Had a quiet day last week.

Cleaned the last 2 that needed it.
Had a look at the gears and brakes, all in good condition, no leaks, worn pads, or misaligned gears, pumped up all the tyres.

Checked all the suspension, none needs servicing, all are now at the right pressure, lockouts are spot on. Droppers all work smoothly, wheel bearings all good.

Had valve stems on one bike that'd corroded sufficiently that one snapped when i took it out (it's 10 years old, i'm not bitter) but i've managed to run out of spares.

So maybe that's it, i need to order a new pack of valve stems.

Don't think there's currently anything I should be doing to the bikes, but there's plenty of optional stuff like swapping bars and tyres I think about about (often just before I'm trying to kick myself out of the door) and simply decide I CBA.

Index the gears on mtb1. It has exactly the same setup as mtb2 which I got right first go but for some reason I can never get it to shift properly. Changed inner an d outer but haven’t the patience to sort it properly

This is slightly embarrassing but I have a set of discounted Fox 36 Factory's that I bought to go on my Bird Aether 7 in January and I haven't fitted them yet...

To be fair it's been so sloppy on the ground that there was no point, so it's on the list for this weekend!

Road - degrease and clean drivechain, replace rear gear cable, decide if an upgrade from 10sp Ultegra is worth it if I'm unlikely to ever race it again

Gravel - figure out exactly which SRAM pressfit BB it has, buy a replacement so it's ready when needed

Hardtail - replace bent chainring, decide how long I can put up with patchy XT front brake before replacing with something else, service the dropper

XC FS 1 - get replacement bearing kit, take to LBS for fitting, send fork and shock for service

XC FS 2 - send fork and shock for service, then SELL!

Various outgrown/unwanted not-particularly-fancy bikes (3 I think) - take to charity, along with big crate of spares and wheels/tyres I will never use

Outgrown M size track bike - SELL

Outgrown M size rim brake road bike - SELL

Bottom bracket on hardtail

This for me as well. I keep forgetting about it til I start a ride and hear the creak and get annoyed by it for the whole ride!

Riding one, and selling two!

A vintage Marin that's hung up in my shed needs to go; it's too small, I've never ridden it. My Dad bought if off the roadside for a fiver and gave it to me.

My Cotic Flare is earmarked to go, too - I don't ride the sort of stuff that warrants a full sus these days, so built up a new Solaris. I'm starting to question if that was the right move at almost 40 with some quite creaky joints, though...

We moved house last autumn and now live within a mile of one of my old favourite riding spots, so I need to get my fat arse up there!

Keep neglecting to add some carbon paste to the seat post & it keeps slowly dropping 😞 also feels like bottom bracket is on the way out which means finally fitting the fsa bb30 converter and junking the crappy praxis thingy.

I've had a new set of wheels waiting to go on the hardtail for most of April. Finally did it the other night and took it for a spin after work today.
But not to worry, I still need to replace the headset bearings on the hardtail and full suspension bike. That's only been waiting 2 months 😁

PXL_20260501_155555321~2.jpgThese just arrived. I'm really excited to have functional brakes after persevering with Codes for as long as possible.

But, the frame is fully internal routing and it was a giant PITA to route the brake the first time so I'm not looking forward to it.

I've even considered buying some kind of adhesive cable guides and running it externally. Internal hydraulics are a bloody stupid idea.

Inspired by this thread I have now taken the old Boardman off its turbo and actually brought it into the house, which might mean I actually fix the thing. Where are its discs? No idea. Its rear tyre? Also lost.
