We have a few days with friends in London this week and I will have a morning free [bikeless] so I thought I would go and press my nose to flash bike shop windows with stock unheard of in my sad provincial bike shop . Any suggestions? or are the capitals bike shops also filled with overpriced crap?

Evans - avoid
Cycle Surgery - good
On Your Bike - good, although more commutery than MTB
Condor - bling bike stuff

Google is your friend for maps and locations

I want more 😉 they have about 1 frame of each and not a lot of kit to fiddle with and poke or buy. I was disapointed myself but hey, you can't please everyone.

I miss Dirt and Dreams....! Gid ran a great little shop, full of blingtastic bling!

For Central London, there's a Cycle Surgery in the City, near Liverpool St, with Yeti, Santa Cruz, Orange and a few others, IIRC. Then there's one near me, in Victoria, where I saw a £10k road bike in the window the other day! Yowzers!

Condor's well worth a look for road shininess.

Mosquito

Lot's of bling in there, but they're really a bunch of miserable gits for some reason... they're my LBS and we just don't get along, don't know why 🙁

Condor is definitely worth a browse, as is 14bikes and the Cyclesurgery at the back Spitalfields (on Strype St), the one at the Markets themselves is pretty poor!

Cyclesurgery at the back Spitalfields (on Strype St)

That's the one I meant! Couldn't remember the address!

The Evans at Spitalfields has a lot of stock (admittedly it's still Evans so prob not niche enough for STW) and if you're off to Cyclesurgery then to Brick Lane etc, can't hurt to stop in

'tis the biggest store in London I think? Definitely worth a visit, though not a lot of 'proper' bling in there 😉

CFH is ever so right re: Dirt&Dreams 🙁
How about ignoring the hype and popping to Warrs? Or maybe to Jack Lilley's?

Someone else remembers them! 😀

Gid's a happy man these days. Last heard of in Australia, soaking up the sunshine!

Warrs? Very popular with men who dress like Rob Halford, if you get what I mean....

Evans in Spitalfields is the most miserable bike shop I have ever had the displeasure to visit. A basement, staffed by mono- or non-syllabic morons. Miserable.

the spitz branch on strype st carry the largest range of MTBs inside cycle surgery. Of course you can come to the holborn branch and see me at work 😉

evans have just opened a new one which is huge, it's got a reception desk and everything.

Have to say, the people in mosquito are indeed dire.

Ah....I see! 😀 As it happens, I shall be around that way for work later this week. Might have to free up some time to go and be an awkward ba5tard of a customer there! Now, what do you look like, so I can make sure I give you a hard time...!

😉
