maxxis crossmark are fast. i like them as they make the road sections of my local rides much less of a chore. It is amazing how much easier/faster they make hardpack ground

i've been riding some 1.95 kenda small block 8 - folding and no-tubes - for the last few weeks and am very impressed. roll sweetly and still quite grippy when shown some mud.

plus were a good price at crc.

5 posts, 5 different recommendations, awesome!

You don't need tread on the back, it just follows the front, if you want fast rolling stick a Furious Fred on the back.

I've tried and liked Ralph, and Pythons. Both nippy; but I prefer the alround excellence of the Ralphs.

Another vote for crossmarks, surprised me how good they are on tough terrain. Wouldn't use one on the front though.

Do you not ride anything off camber or corner at speed? Definately need some rear tyre grip for that.

If running tubeless i go for the Bontrager revolt super x when it's dry, but I went for the jones ACX as more of an all round tyre last year as the summer weather was so unpredictable. The small block 8's are great tyres too.

Crossmark 2.1 LUSTs wi Stans Solution on 5.1Ds here. Great fast rolling combo and fine on the front too. I have a heavier set of wheels/tyres too tho for Torridon rides.

muggo I was (half)kidding, if you ride dry cambered stuff quickly enough though you will be fine with a fairly bald tyre on the rear. Furious Fred has some side lugs anyway, and they're crazy fast!

Don't pay full RRP for Racing Ralphs. There was a thread a couple of days ago about cheaper places to get them (I think it was Merlin) or http://www.bike24.com/
