My 18yr old daughter is after a set of knee pads after a couple of recent scrapes. She is of average build and size. Are small mens likely to fit or should she go for girlie ones.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I bought G form knee pads and, after measuring my thighs, needed to go for the large mens size ( ๐ณ ) despite wearing size 8/10 trousers. So it depends on her size - I would recommend that she measures the relevant bits and picks the pads on that basis.

My almost 17yr old daughter really likes her 661 Kyle Strait knee pads. They are a small or medium.
I had wondered about the G form but worried after pulling them on a few times the elastic would give up.
The guides that recommended them to us wear them everyday. The ones we tried had been used for over a season and there was no sign of any wear in the elastic. I smashed a frame and a helmet but my knees and elbows were fine.
It's not a question of being a girl or a boy - small will fit her fine. The real question is what kind of riding she does. If she does techy stuff then she'll need full knee/shin protection, but if she simply wants to avoid skin loss in the event of a fall on regular ground then the neoprene based pads are the way forward. POC VPD are ideal.
As @legolam says best to measure all the relevant but soft the legs. I have POC VPD 2.0 and take a medium. I am a size 8/10 in trousers. OH has the smalls, they are a bit tight on me.
