[Closed] What just happened to my tyre?

When I was out on the trails yesterday I was hit a particularly rough downhill section; roots and rocks everywhere. All of a sudden my front tyre started to deflate and there’s sealant bubbling out of the tyre where it meets the rim. I tried inflating it with no success. In the end I push the bike back to the car.

I managed to inflate it when I got back home and it’s still alright this morning.

Basically, was that an example of burbing then tyre? I don’t know because I’ve never had that happen before.

What pressures were you running? Was it mid corner? That's the usual cause of a burp (which it does sound like from what you describe).

Also could happen (but less common) on harsh compressions and stuff like that. Any marks on the rim? Bottoming out the tyre can cause it to unseat and burp.

As above, not enough pressure when going over roots/rocks, caused tyre burp IMO.

I Burped like this when I was in the alps but managed to deform the tyre to such an extent it now has a definite wobble when fully re inflated. Like the wheel is out of alignment even though it’s not. Guess the tyre is goosed (maxxis ardent)

Tyre pressure was quite firm. I’m running 2.8 Nobby Nics with a 140 Yari fork.

Luckily the rim is ok and the tyre shows no sign of damage.

Is my tyre going to hold or will I have to set it up again ?

Put some new sealant in again.

Sounds like the pressure was a bit low.

What internal rim width are you using?

They’re 40mm wtb scraper rims.

Yep, that what I use, but with 3" NN's.  16psi rear 14psi front. Never had a burp.
