As per title, looking to change the 2.8 Minions on my bike for something less draggy but still ok for year round Uk riding, I thought about the forekaster but at 2.6 I ido t think it with make much difference. I’m thinking high roller 11 in 2.5wt but could I get away with anything narrower/smaller & maintain the correct tyre profile?
Not stuck on the Maxxis brand if that makes any difference.
Cheers.

2.6 are noticeably smaller than 2.8. You can run 2.5WT and 2.4WT on them - Maxxis recommend them for 30-35mm internal width rims, but personally think that 2.6 and smaller WT tyres work better on 30mm internal rims.

Depends on carcass and tread.

I have 2.3 Vigilante and 2.3 Breakout that are perfectly fine on 35mm internal rims but I wouldn’t go any bigger. I wasn’t entirely sure these would work but as they do it’s all good

Aye - WTB come up big, as do Schwalbe so both may work in nominally smaller sizes.

I think that the new Conti options state appropriate rim widths on the sidewall now?

Aren't MSC tyres listed as being designed for 30-35mm rims? Think they have some 2.3" stuff.

2.8 Maxxis Rekon+ is a good all rounder and noticeably less draggy than minion. Run one on the back all year round. Also looked at the Ikon for summer once I wear out current tyre.
How’s you BB height? Wouldn’t want to go much smaller on mine and risk increased pedal strikes.

Should of said I have a Rekon+ on the rear, bb feels to high to me, but then I have transition bandit with a silly low bb that I like, a lot.
Lower bb’s make sense to me, quite why you would be peddling at points when you hit the peddles is beyond me.
Cheers.

I’ve got a Maxxis Aggressor 2.5 WT on a Hope 35W rear wheel which comes up absolutely fine.

2.5 maxxis should be fine yeah

why you would be peddling at points when you hit the peddles is beyond me.

There's these lumpy things called rocks, wicked fun but they can slow you down a bit and necessitate a bit of pedaling

2.35 Magic Mary & Hans Dampf are totally fine on 33mm inside width rim. So I think they would very likely be fine and 2.4/2.5 would be fine too.

I've had 2.3 and 2.35 Maxxis' on my i35s with no issues at all... Thought they might be a bit balloon-y at the sides, but are fine...
