Snow Card
i used the post office insurance which covers all areas of mountain biking and seems reasonable at £40
I have used Snowcard. Not had to claim so no idea but others seem to rate them. If you search Snowcard you will get some more hits to check out.
Be sure to qualify what you are doing so you do not end up uninsured. I thought MTBing in Europe would be level 2 but it seems that lift assisted mtbing is level 4.

dogtag sorted me out in canada when i broke myself 🙂
thanks for the advice,

giantjason, check your t&cs, they cover 'cycling' but not mountain biking.
I'm struggling with this too, can find place to cover me if I ride out into the outback alone for days on end, with (potentially) not a clue what I'm doing, but no-one will give me cover for a race (confined area with lots of people, including full medical facilities) Seems odd.
Where are you going, do you need more than an E111?
The E111 is no more and has been replaced by the EHIC.
As andrewh says it is a good call to check what the insurer calls mountain biking vs what you think it is.
Do youactually need more insurance than the EHIC ? The main thing that insurance gets you is evacuation home if you cannot get on a normal flight. without insurance you might have to wait until you can get that normal flight or get yourself on one anyway in discomfort.
I have never had insurance prefering to use and trust the reciprocal arrangements we have with EU countries. Obviously different if you are going where there is no reciprocal arrangements
Snowcard will cover racing but you need to select the right level of cover.
