I got a Giro Xar from ChainReaction for £80. Used the below URL for a price match.

Helmet is very nice, if a bit orange...

Maybe not the green one, but the Enduromatic is a great lid. (That's what i use!).

I'm with TJ on this one

Go try some on, the best one is the one that fits best.

For my head it's a UVEX XP100

Fit is most important but assuming it fits, the Fox Flux is great value- Stif has some limited colours for £50!

Dont think you would go far wrong with either the Fox or Giro.
As above thou i would nip into local l.b.s. first to try them for size before you order.

Cracked your old one? First thing is look for crash replacement. For example, if you're with specialized, they will exchange their sworks 2d for your old one and about £55. And again if you ever break that one.

Met kaos ul, it's amazingly light and super comfy. The best lid I've ever owned. Looks great in White too. I got mine for £72 I think.

Aren't Giro Hex's compulsory round these parts?

TJ recommending a helmet? Eh? What?

What have you done with the real TJ, you monster?! You've killed him, stashed the body and logged on in his name haven't you cynic-al 😉

Giro Monza. Peaks are SO last year dahling!

Seriously though, the cheaper Trek/Bonty and Spesh ones are brilliant for the cash. Mrs had a Trek Interval
which was easily as good as the Giro E2 I've just retired.

I just got a Specialized Vice which is in the style of the Xen/Flux etc with a bit more protection down the back of the head than a standard helmet. It's nice and comfy and well ventilated. I do find Specialized helmets are well suited to my headshape. I tried a Xar too which seemed good but was a lot more expensive than the Vice in the shop I was in. The £80 mentioned above seems like a good deal for that if it's a good fit...

I'm on my 3rd Specialised Instinct, quite happy with them.

Specialised have a half-price (ish) crash replacement policy, which is why its my 3rd...

I got a 661 Recon last month, very comfy helmet and well vented, I got the white one but changed the peak and little vent on the top for the black versions, bit of contrast in the colour, you can get all the spares from CRC. Did try the Fox Flux on but did not feel as as nice on my head as the Recon did, go and try a few and see what is right for you..

It depends on which make fits your head size ...

Had a few over the last few year & have fount the Specialized Vice fits me better & adds extra protection at the back & on the temples.

The ventelation is spot on as well ... I did the C2C during the sunny Easter Hols & never gave the helmet a second thought. It sat there & did it's job 🙂

Try them out first. (And Uvex XP100 here as it has properly adjustable cradle around and 'up/down', fits really well, as well as having a couple of neat other features)

You've got to try some on. For me 661 & Fox were awful. Giro spot on, so went with the new Hex & very happy with it. The new adjuster thing is very good. Its included on the Hex & Xar, but oddly not the Xen.
