If it's on the u-turn spring assembly it's not going to come into contact with any seals, assuming you mean the wiper ones.

I almost added 'is it?' but it seemed cruel.

I'm halfway through servicing some Boxxers (had to stop for kids/wife/work conference call/various other interruptions that always occur whenever I need half and hour to myself) and I had packed the space between upper and lower seal with Stendec fork grease - has done the job very nicely and is still in place and clean - have used same on spring and all looks clean and tidy there too - I'm not a regular servicer by any means. So I'll recommend that.

With greases and oils you have to have dissimilar types, so silicone seals use mineral grease and natural rubber use silicone grease.

Did quite a lot of work on something similar in my job recently.

As honourablegeorge advised, Stendec Easy Glide fork grease is good stuff.

If you don't know what wiper seals are made from and you don't know what grease to use on a u turn spring, may I respectfully suggest that you leave it alone and take it to a shop 'wot noes stuff'.

It'll be better in the long run.

Well they're not silicone. I'm pretty sure about that.

Bit harsh, everyone has to start somewhere and asking is the only way to find out.

I use Stendec grease and oils in my forks. I believe the grease is silicone based. Obviously the oils are not so the oils don't mix with the grease and wash it away.

I think common greases are Judy Butter, Slick Honey, Stendec and Rockshox recommend PM600 'military grease'. I've never worked on a coil fork but I am guessing the lube is just for where it rubs on the inside of the stanchion? If so it's not really critical, you just want something that will stay put and not get washed off etc but is compatible with the rest of the fork. Is it exposed to the lower leg lubrication oil?

PS I'd probably put money on the wipers being polyurethane as they are in quite a harsh environment.

You're making this more complicated than it needs to be.

If this a coil then any grease will do. Also, any suspension grease, like Stendec (it's what I use), is suitable for anywhere on the fork.
