The spec list for the 2010 Stumpy FSR Elite (& Expert) reckons it's:
Shimano M660 SLX DMD top swing, dual pull
I can probably take a pic of the one on mine later & post it on here if that would help?
I think DMD is direct mount.....?
Here's the spec list for the 2010 Stumpy FSR:

I found this; it's the 2011 10-speed SLX front mech instead of the 2010 9-speed, but the third pic down shows is annotated as dual pull, direct fit.
My front mech definitely isn't e-type; it's fitted to the carbon FSR with press-fit BB, but was transferred from the original aluminium frame that was warrantied.
thnaks for the replies so far.
the one listed for the bike is this
Shimano M660 SLX, DMD, top swing, dual pull
looking at the picture of the one above i think where the two bolts are on it is where it would bold to my frame like my 09 enduro.......
cheers

renton, the one in your picture is as I thought it would be. It is an e-type mech with the mount plate removed. See the two allen head screws in my picture? You undo those, remove the plate and screw the mech directly to the frame.
A Shimano direct fit mech looks like this -
And that definitely isn't going to work.
I used the one in Mister P's photo. Unscrew and remove the bottom ring, and then bolt it onto the frame.
Its the DMD E type / s3
Same as my epic. Although ive got a 2011 for 10 speed front mech shouldnt make a jot of difference*.
