just what I was thinking, although if the OP has a carbon epic frame there seatpost doesnt fit I can swap for my b1 nirvana 1.0 frame.

All Specialized, newer Titus, Santa Cruz, Turner and Giant.
It was a size created by Specialized on the first metal matrix frames, they made the tubes to their requirements, then measured the internal diameter (hence it being one of only 2 'odd' sizes, along with 34.9 on Scott carbon frames). So anyone else using a 30.9 post is actually just copying Specialized, weirdly. Fun fact trivia fans.
