Any experts that could accurately tell me what a pair of 29 RaceFace AR 30c offset on shimano hubs weigh?

How can we know unless you tell us where they are?

I know the weight for on the moon, anywhere else you are probably best weighing them yourself

Deore rear hub = 430g

XTR rear hub = 231g

Think you'll have to be more specific...

Less if you're riding under Schiehallion

Weight changes depending on the effect of gravity in your location.

Mass should remain constant, unless they are undergoing some sort of nuclear event.

They will be, at some trace level. We're going to need to know location and timescale.

The website say the 25cm rims are 462g
Add that to the hubs ads678 listed, plus a few spokes, a extra bit of alu for the 30cs, a few grams of grease and a slight margin for error, and you get....

ooh, they've actually got the weights for all of them - 514+/-5% / 545+/-5% for the 30s

Around the 2000g mark, probably on the heavier side of that as well.

Less than mine. Unless you mean the other wheelset. In which case more than mine. So, I’d say somewhere in between

Would you not be easier taking a scale and weighing them yourself?

Just a crazy thought.

Certainly not, that'd mean taking the tyres & cassette off.

Brass nipples are usually around 1-1.3g per nipple, alloy around .03g. Spokes can be anything from 3-6g.

Rims you have the weight for, hubs we need specifics.

I've no idea what the hubs are, its an OEM wheelset from an Orbea Occam.

Weigh them with tyres and cassette on and then subtract that as known numbers, plus sealant/tube whatever.

But if OEM and not top of the range you can guess at 2kg

Going to be hard for anyone to work out what they weigh for you then isn't it!

The hubs will likely have a model number on the shell.

You'll be able to tell on sight if the nipples are brass or aluminium.

Spoke gauge to determine thicknesses and butting.

Copied and pasted from the Orbea Rise Facebook group thread. I think these will probably be the same as yours.

“2195g with tape and tubeless valves. Hubs are mt410b and mt510b. And rims are AR30”

Be quicker to take the tyres, cassette, discs, etc off than get a straight answer here... (Mind you, came here to make the mass vs weight quip myself 😉 )

I think I have the same wheels in a box at home - came off my 2022 Orbea Rise - has unbranded hubs (actually they are Chosen Hubs DA4677B-148-12) with the AR30c Offset. Can weigh later. Do you know if you have the alloy or steel freehub fitted (if you want an accurate figure)?

Order the same tyres and cassette online from somewhere that does free returns. Weigh them and send back.
Weigh your wheels and subtract the tyre/cass weight from the total. Hey presto!
I reckon close to 2196g

hmmm.
chosen hub version - 2100g
shimano - another 100-150g or so. Gotta be over 2200g I would expect.

Front 940g
Rear (steel freehub) 1120g
That's with tape and valves - yours might be a bit less if you have the alloy freehub

Thanks vmgscot, I appreciate the effort! They are the Arc 30 offset 30mm.

So at 2029 ish it’s not with spending £370 on 160g of upgrade (silt am). It just all feels heavy to me, then I am comparing these plus maxxis DHF 2.6 with the Crossmax Elites and Barzo’s I’m used to. 😀

No, not worth it and you won't notice anyway. It's a slippery slope in the other direction to a xc bike. You'll be after thicker sidewalls soon, stickier rubber etc and then you will think 16kg is fine for a bike.
