I have a poor seal around the bleed hole on a Magura Louse caliper.
When bleeding the brake after fitting a new hose a small piece of casting swarf came away with the bolt that sits in the bleed hole.
I now have the issue that when the lever is compressed and the pads contact the rotor a small amout of fluid escapes ๐
I have tried a rubber o ring but once tightened under the button topped bolt it compresses too much.
Any suggestions?
I'd guess you cross threaded it?
bit of ptfe tape around the thread?
No cross threading.
Thread on both bolt and caliper is fine - the swarf can out from the last thread making the seal between the underside of the bolt head and caliper uneven.
This happened removing the bolt rather than putting it back.
Will give the PTFE tape a go though as may stop the fluid getting to the top of the threads.
*not sure of exact problem,
what about a very low strength loctite/thread locker type product, so that bolt is sealed ? but can still be got out without excessive force
if the ptfe doesn't work, theres a paste product known as gas seal.
its a stiff paste that never dries or goes hard. i use loads of it day to day in my work but have never tried it on a bike.
im betting it would work though.
PTFE tape looks to have resolved the issue.
If it reappears as a problem I'll look for some of the gas seal product.
