Hi all,
My FSA carbon chainset is being replaced under warranty but they don't have a triple in stock for 4-6 weeks so I am thinking of going to 2 x 9 initially but then upgrading the bike to 2 x 10 as and when bits wear out.

It's an Epic which is my XC bike and it currently has an 11-32 SRAM cassette which will need replacing soon anyway so I'll go for an 11-34 I think.

Chainring options are 39/27, 40/27, 42/27 and I currently have 42/32/22. I certainly used the granny at the Bog Dog race at the weekend!

As I have a spare chainset I could just wait 4-6 weeks and get a triple?

Opinions please!

Did you use the granny and the very easiest gears? It's those you'll lose (roughly 2 of 'em). I'd personally go for 40/27 of those, but you know how much you use your granny ring currently.

I did in the latter part of the race, but that was down to my lack of fitness and miles this year! Uusally do most things on the middle and granny which is 32/32.
