Anyone tried them / got a set of these?

Intrigued as to what a 'skinny' 26" cross style tyre would ride like.

skittish, uncomfortable & not huge amounts of grip.
Great for clearance though if it's REALLY sticky or for small cx bikes

Ta

Obviously wouldn't try on rock gardens et al but how about somewhere like Thetford (for the D2D)?

Oh and £28 for a pair off of Fleabay don't sound too bad for an experiment.

I have some in 26" size that I used once in a cross race. Great for cross and they come up very small and skinny indeed. (about 38mm shoulder to shoulder on 717's). Never ben to thetford, but if you are heavy or it's very rooty you'd have to have the rear pumped up dead hard.

(I take mine to [s]enduro[/s], sorry, 12/24hr races as a sort of lucky talisman to ward off the sort of mud where I might need to for them in order for the wheels to turn freely for the whole lap. I nearly used them at this year's 'sever weather warning' 24/12, but I got on just fine on my 'american clearances' frame with a 1.8 on the back in the end)

I have a pair which I used for cyclocross racing before I got a proper cross bike. To be honest, they reduced the wheel size so that bumps became more of an issue, and lowered the bottom bracket too much which made for a few pedals strikes out of corners.
They weren't that grippy in the mud either, and I actually felt the bike was more competative with larger tyres.

Good for childrens cyclocross bikes is the only plus I could think of.

I wouldn't for Thetford, not sticky enough iirc from when I raced there in the wet. I'd rather run something a bit bigger, have a touch more grip & comfort to be able to carry more speed. Medusa 1.8 maybe if you still want something narrow(ish)?

I eventually swapped to some Mud X's for my last lap of last year's D2D having got bored of fishtailing / cocking up a couple of slippery sections.

Oh and cheers traildog
