[#2924604]

I accidentally paid a bill to a debt collection company twice . Initially they answered my e-mails but they strung me along quite a bit . I sent them an e-mail of a bank statement proving I had paid the amount twice and for the last 3 weeks they haven't answered any e-mails . The amount in question is just over £100 so not a life changing sum or anything . Your advice will be greatly received .

I assume it's too late for that , the amount left my account at the end of May .

Bank won't be able to help but they can give you proof of transmission- BACS trace, assuming it went by BACS. I think there's a faster payments equivalent. Can be helpful.

Perhaps they were a bit threatening with you when you said you had paid so you paid again as they were going to call and then charge you more etc. you then got bank statements etc.

I am not sure legally but I assume if you pay a bill twice you are entitled to the money back? Any legal bods know for certain?

Small claims court surely. It's called "moneyclaim.gov.uk" I think.
