Budget around £1000 but could go some more for a good deal. I've looked at the Planet X London Road and the Boardman ADV 8.9 but they are sold out. I would use it on quiet lanes, cycle paths, forest tracks and some trails in West of Scotland area.

If it's pootling around and exploring, then the Genesis Vagabond is a great gravel/Monster-cross/all road bike. Works just as well with 28/30c tyres as it does 2.1 tyres.
They were £999, but I think the price might have gone up this year.
Though what about the Genesis CDA?
