Just about to book a week in the Austrian Alps nr Leogang (Hinterglemm to be exact) with the family. Should be able to sneak out for an hour or two most days for a blast. Question is do I go through the faff of taking a bike (we're flying) or hire, and if I do take a bike, do I take the Intense Slopestyle for some downhill fun, or the Turner 5-Spot for more of an "all-mountain" experience??

Anyone some experience of the area to offer advice?

I'd recommend u take the intense. Went to Leogang a few years ago and used a commencal supreme 6. Had great fun on it riding the dh/fr trails in Leogang and the hills around Salbach and Hinterglemm. There's also the bike park in Hinterglemm/Salbach that the slopestyle would suit down to the ground. Plus u can use the cable cars so you're getting lots of runs in before family time.

I went with family a couple of years ago and stayed in Saalbach - we had a good time. It was mostly lift assisted DH/FR trails although there is a '5 lifts xc tour'

Very little other marked xc trails that get you off the fire roads.

Bike hire in Hinterglemm was Bike n Soul if I remember. They mainly rented Rotwild brand.

I'd just leave that junk at home and rent some decent German machinery ๐Ÿ˜‰
