Hi All,
I'm asking on behalf of my neice, we went riding a few weeks ago, and he little bike is a bit on the tired side and a little too small too, so chatting with her mum a new (to her?) bike is on the cards from me.
I don't want to spend a massive amount - £100 or so, but i'm hoping that would buy me something around 24" wheels with hopefully a little bit of suspension on the forks?
Any help appreciated!
thanks,
jt
At 11 years she'll almost certainly need a 26" wheel bike (my duaghter is 10 and she's been told by her cycle training instructor that her 24" bike is too small. Daddy's gotta buy a new bike now)
For £100 you wont get much. Best bet is to look out for a 2nd hand small framed alu mountain bike with rigid forks (at that price point suspension is not worth having; fit some larger volume tyres for bump resistance).
If you want to encourage her to do some more serious riding, and enjoy it, its worth spending abit more. Perhaps get a small frame and bits from the classifieds here?
If you deffo want a 24" bike, I'll have a spare specialised girls one from this evening (Southampton).
Hi 40mpg
I was just concerned a 26" wheeled bike would look HUGE to her and be a little daunting, and I don't want it to be a "you'll grow into it" thing where it sits in the shed for months!
if you have details of the 24" wheeled bike, I would be interested in knowing a little more!
Finding small frames is a job and a half! 😉
thanks,
jt
My 7yr old boy rides a 26" wheel bike, that looks a little big.
My 9yr old on a Konda Stinky 24" wheel looks fine (I think he is around 140-145cm tall).
14" inbred would be my choice for the older boy.
Abigale is 11 and is on a small Giant Reign since aged 9

If it was me unless she is very small would go for 26" wheels
Tracey
My son is 10 and riding 26" wheels. He has a kona stinky and a sc heckler both good builds but built for next to nothing with a mix of my old spares and cheap second hand bits. Like Tracy said "If it was me unless she is very small would go for 26" wheels"
