I'm going to go down the double and bash route and wondered what options other than SLX are out there that people use and recommend?
I like the SLX but just want to weigh up my options.
There was a grouptest on this in last month's MBR, I think. SLX won. For the money you're really going to struggle to beat it, although the Race Face SixC stuff looks pretty nice if you've got a spare £550 that you're happy to spank on some new cranks.
Ha unfortunately not. I'm gutted because CRC had the SLX for £80 last week but I'd not been paid and now it's gone up to £125. Just missed out damn!
Just buy a bashring and put it on your existing cranks? I'm running the original HT2 XT's and even burgtech flats havent managed to rip the threads out so I dont buy into the need for steel inserts there either.
Have you seen this price,

Oh, how much is shipping though? Are they reliable?
Sadly you just missed the Merlin Cycles 10% off sale, but it's still a bit cheaper than CRC there: £106.95.
*edit*
£95.99 for 170mm...
I can't believe I missed the CRC price with my 10% discount too.
